Tainted Memories - Out of Our Hands EP

My first listen to this EP I was rather pleasantly surprised by it, I wasn't sure what I should be expecting but the boys have out-done themselves. For such young guys the are very talented and have shown their ambition for wanting to do well. The depth and detail within each song and the time and energy they have put into their EP is clearly shown. The entire EP is very upbeat and enjoyable to the ear.

EP Breakdown

1) Maybe I'm Wrong

The strong drum solo opening the song provides the listener with interest into the song as it is engaging and instantly makes you want to listen further. The chorus is built together in a strong manner and the use of the group vocal shows a strong built up song. The thick texture of the song clearly shows the strength the band have now built up and are managing to show their audience. The fade out at the end of the song gives the impression that the fun never ends which has got to be true with this band, it is a very strong song.

2) For All The Wrong Reasons

The song begins with a melody line which is memorable for the listener therefore meaning that there is a higher chance of the song being stuck in your head making it a quality song. It comes across as a feel good song with a positive sounding lyric tone whereas the lyrics suggest something different. The break down section is incredibly powerful as it suggests shows how deep the feelings are behind this song which can be related back to real life.

3) Let's Go Back

This is probably the most different song out of all on the EP which is due to the screamo section involved within the song. It isn't something you would expect from this band but works really well with the vocal line. Due to the subtle sounds of Rory's voice by adding the screamo it creates a fierce tone to the song which is not immediately predicted to be heard from this bad. The band have clearly thought about this song in great depth to have made these decisions regarding the song and it pays off well. I think it mixes together really well to create the right sound.

4) Far From Close

This song begins with a guitar riff before building up the other sections, the use of the long introduction can be intriguing for the listener. The track breaks down once the vocals come in to ensure full focus on the vocal line, this is a really strong aspect as it means that the vocal line becomes the main focus for the verses. This changes when the chorus comes in as the track builds up to create a fuller sound before breaking back down again to go into the chorus. I think that this is a really clever aspect of the song by the constant changing of parts within the song at various points. The song breaks down nicely and finishes on a simple long fading note which draws a pleasant ending to the song.

Until you are allowed to enjoy the entire EP you can make the most of their released song Maybe I'm Wrong. The guys should be really happy with this EP as it sounds amazing.
