I've mentioned this a few times before but this is the Stop Drop Rock Tour featuring Taking Hayley, The City Calls, My Extraordinary and The Famous Class all as rotating headliners meaning that each one will perform as headliner when they are in their hometown and then Hollywood will act as the support act for them all. Although every band will perform at every stop of the tour. I will be at the London stop so if anyone is there come and say Hi. If you haven't got your tickets left then there is still time to do so.
Week Commencing: Monday 20th February 2012 Quick 2 minutes
This week Taking Hayley got through to the next round of the Red Bull Bedroom Jam so make sure you check out their bedroom jam tomorrow at 5pm. And they are also on the stop drop rock tour this April so if you want to see them live then make sure you get down to that. I know I'll be checking out the London show. The other tour I'm going to be seeing is the Loud Noises tour from Room 94 so don't forget to go down and check that out if you get a chance. Especially as they released their new lyric video this week for their latest song "You Got It Wrong", it's a really great song and can now be bought from iTunes. So make sure you go and grab that if you haven't already got it. I can tell you that it's already featured in my top played songs. The other tour this side of Easter (well there are loads actually) is the Just Me Again tour, it looks like it should be really good although I currently don't have any plans to go, so if you do go let me know how it went.
I can tell you that there is a lot to be expected from A Day Overdue this year, I've heard a couple of their plans and I can assure you that they are going to be big so make sure you keep an eye out for them.
Beyond Recall are going to be supporting Attack Attack at their Bristol show, from what I can gather the Beyond Recall guys are extremely happy about this. It's going to be such a good experience for them and they'll get to play to share their music to a whole new group of people. The Natives have released a sneaky peek at some of their new material. It's a really good song called "Big Plan" so I can't wait to hear a bit more from them in the near future. Out of interest are there any bands that anybody would like to see come together for a tour? What would be your dreamtouring bands?
UK Chart This weeks number three is DJ Fresh with Hot Right Now, number two is Emeli Sande with Next to Me and this weeks UK number one is Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye.
Week Commencing: Monday 6th February 2012 Quiz 2 minutes Well I can say it's been a tight week in the red bull bedroom jam mainly between Strangle Kojak and Taking Hayley. Both are really awesome bands and I know they will both get through but the fight to get a band through this week has begun and it is very intense. Seeing as I am supporting a different every band per a week for this part of the competition, this week its Strangle Kojak. So if you get a chance then go and vote for them
I have been getting so excited about going to the Room 94 loud noises tour, it's going to be amazing and I am really looking forward to checking out some of their new material. Hopefully get to meet the guys this time which'll be exciting. I am especially excited to see Show It Off who are supporting them for this stop of their tour so it should be really amazing.
This week has bought to my attention the break up of some awesome bands, the first really great one is A Boy Named Girl (I hadn't even got round to posting about them yet) who are a really awesome band and it's sad to see them stop, of Mice and Men has lost Shayley (I'll admit I don't know much about this band but it's never nice seeing a band lose a member) and also the biggest horror of the week has been Not Advised. Although everyone says that they will be re-releasing themselves under a new name especially as they've just come back from America recording an album as that is a lot of money and time to waste. I agree with everyone as I'm sure they will be back but branded under a new name.
UK Chart
This weeks UK number three is T.H.E by Will.i.am, second is Titanium by David Guetta and this weeks UK number 1 is Somebody That I Used to Know by Gotye.
I'm starting to get crazily excited for all the tours that are taking place this year, I just wish that I had enough money to attend them all because there are some really awesome bands hitting the roads. I'll try to update you on as many as I can but it is easy to forget but I'd say that pretty much any developing band will be touring this year. Talking of tours Room 94's loud noises tour is in March but they are also planning an August tour already as they have asked to take The Survival Code with them. I was more than excited when I found out this news and demanded The Survival Code to do it. So fingers crossed we will be seeing them around more too. I can also inform you that Kaleidophone are going to be releasing some new material soon so make sure you keep an eye out for that.
And I can now officially tell you about the April Stop, Drop, Rock tour. This is the one that I am uber excited about especially because of the line up. It's being organised in a really cool way where the bands alternate each time for who will headline the show. I admit I'm a little upset that Taking Hayley aren't going to be headlining in London but The Famous Class are which will be even better. Also involved is My Extraordinary, The City Calls and then support will be given from Hollywood. The way it works is that all 5 bands will perform at each stop of the tour and then each band will headline their own home town show. It's only a four stop tour so unfortunately it's not that long but hopefully there is one close enough to you that you can go along to. Tickets for Newcastle, Southampton and Birmingham are £6 and then tickets for London are £7, I hate the way London is always more expensive but some things are out of our control due to London being an expensive place.
This section is not going to be two minutes long this time, but I just wanted to give a shout out to FYI and ask little favour, could you all please rate FYI (5 stars would be good) on the Red Bull Bedroom Jam. They are a really great band but because they aren't a stereotypical band for the competition people aren't being very nice. The idea of these competitions is to support and promote not all the negative attitude, it's just shameful for people to act in that way. That is the reason why some music competitions get a bad reputation because of the people that do things like that. It'd be really great if you could just spare a few seconds of your time to vote for them, they've worked really hard and they deserve to do well. Plus they are really lovely people and have been really supportive to me. It's time to give something back, so pretty please drop them a quick (5 star) vote. It'd mean the world to me and I know it would to them too. Thank you very much to all of you that do vote for them, of course its down to you to vote for who you like as a band and I know that I've also voted for a couple of other bands in the competition but that is the great thing about it you can vote for as many different bands.
This weeks number three is Mama Do the Hump by Rizzle Kicks, in second place is Good Feeling my Flo Rida and this weeks number one is by the wonderful Jessie J with Domino. This is this weeks number 1.
Week Commencing: Monday 2nd January 2012 Quick 2 Minutes I'm not really too sure what has happened this week with music, everything seems to have all blurred together. There have been a lot of show announcements going on this week and an awful lot more tour teasers. There are going to be some great tours this Easter time some that have been released and some that haven't but my secret spies have informed me that they are going to be good. Make sure you keep checking for some great tours of some great bands. Most of the bands are keeping to their hometowns for gigs at the moment just trying to keep it small, so if you have a favourite band that is close to you then check their facebook or twitter for some more updates. We've had the massive Katy Perry and Russell Brand split, I can't believe those two are over but then did we really think it would last? On the plus side it probably means we are due some more awesome Katy Perry songs and emotional ones too which is always a good sign. Live from the Living Room is back up and running after new year and there have been some really awesome soloists appearing from there. I do have some slightly sad new regarding Datura Glow, I have decided to leave the band as their manager in order to focus more on my studies but I honestly wish the band all the best and they know that I will always be there for them if they need me. It's been a great few months being part of this band and I am sure they will be very successful in the future. I will keep telling you to check out Taking Hayley for their tour, I don't know the dates but I do know the support and it'll be a very very awesome tour.
UK Charts In my opinion the charts are a bit all over the place and nothing seems to entirely match up. This weeks top three consists of Troublemaker by Taio Cruz in at third, Coldplay with Paradise at second and this weeks number one being Good Feeling by Flo Rida.
Taking Hayley are a pop rock band from Birmingham. The four guys have been together since November 2010. I really love Taking Hayley and I'm looking forward to getting to see them in the future and hopefully on their next UK tour because I sneakily know the bands also on that and it'll be an amazing tour and it seems like they will be announcing all the details to you in a few days time so make sure you keep checking. Talking of tours they headlined their first one on the December Stop, Drop, Rock Clothing tour which sounds like it was a really amazing tour. You can: - facebook them www.facebook.com/takinghayleyuk - tweet them www.twitter.com/Takinghayley - watch them www.youtube.com/Takinghayleyofficial I don't know everything about this band but I've been keeping up-to-date with them for at least a year now and their journey has been amazing. I would really recommend keeping an eye on this group as they are going to be big before you realise it has happened. This is their song circles.
