Weekly Update

Week commencing: Monday 26th March 2012
Quick 2 Minutes
This week I went to the last date of the Loud Noises tour and it was an amazing gig. I can't wait to get my blog post on it up, I also got to meet pretty much every band member that was part of the tour and some more but I can tell you that they were all so lovely and kind. The post will be coming out tomorrow with more depth and detail from the gig.

Hopefully you would have seen my review of A Day Overdue's new single but now the video has actually been released so you can all watch it and hear the track. I hope you all like it as much as I do. The guys have also just released their tour dates for this Summer, and there are a lot of them so there is no excuse to not go and say hi. I really want to try to make the London and Guildford date because it'd be really great to see this band perform twice. The video will be released later on tonight.

BSW Music Network are very soon going to be releasing the details about their fundraiser event, and I have had a sneaky peek at the line up and I can assure you that there are some really awesome bands involved. So if you are from/around Bristol then make sure you get down to that in May.

I feel like there has been loads going on this week but whenever it comes round to writing it all down to share with you my mind always goes blank.
UK Chart
This weeks number three is Starships by Nicki Minaj, the number two is She Doesn't Mind by Sean Paul and this weeks number 1 is Turn Up The Music by Chris Brown.

Storylines - A Day Overdue

I remember saying to myself frequently that this is going to be a big year for A Day Overdue and I can tell you that I am not wrong. The things that they have planned are crazy. It’s going to be a big year for A Day Overdue and it seems that they are only going to excel themselves to greatness. I have to admit I always forget how popular they really are because all of the guys are so down to earth, honest and kind which is great to see as it shows that fame really hasn’t gone to their heads. Moving on to the purpose of this post which is simply not to big up another band, it is because I’ve had an exclusive first listen to their new single “Storylines”. Before I get too far into this, I will say it now that it is a really great song. I have all of A Day Overdue’s released music and I say this without any biased influences, this song has to be part of their best work. I honestly think it is a step above some of their older material, I really enjoyed their single “Last Goodbye” but I do think that “Storylines” is on a whole new level where A Day Overdue have really upped their game to record this single. I am really looking forward to hearing some more new tracks from them after listening to “Storylines”.

I’m not sure if it’s the climatic crescendo which draws you into the song so early on or simply the combined structure of the song which makes it fit so well. This song really demonstrates the bands talents and can be an eye opener for people that dismiss this band because with a song which is as strong as this it is enough to be an eye opener for anyone. I really like the instrumental section which takes place 2:40 within the track, where the listener is the slowly introduced to the vocals once again. I think this is a really effective use of layering within the song as the different parts aren’t overwhelming but gel together really well. I especially like the use of piano within the song and the way which the piano is left to play solo towards the end of the song as the texture gets thinner allowing for the different instruments to be heard. There is a mixture of drama but is then quite calming because of the piano solo which is left to play out the song.

That is just a brief idea into the song; hopefully it didn’t give too much away about the track. The music video for “Storylines” is going to be released this Sunday (1st April 2012) which will be your first opportunity to hear their new song.

Weekly Update

Week Commencing: Monday 20th February 2012
Quick 2 minutes

This week Taking Hayley got through to the next round of the Red Bull Bedroom Jam so make sure you check out their bedroom jam tomorrow at 5pm. And they are also on the stop drop rock tour this April so if you want to see them live then make sure you get down to that. I know I'll be checking out the London show. The other tour I'm going to be seeing is the Loud Noises tour from Room 94 so don't forget to go down and check that out if you get a chance. Especially as they released their new lyric video this week for their latest song "You Got It Wrong", it's a really great song and can now be bought from iTunes. So make sure you go and grab that if you haven't already got it. I can tell you that it's already featured in my top played songs.
The other tour this side of Easter (well there are loads actually) is the Just Me Again tour, it looks like it should be really good although I currently don't have any plans to go, so if you do go let me know how it went.

I can tell you that there is a lot to be expected from A Day Overdue this year, I've heard a couple of their plans and I can assure you that they are going to be big so make sure you keep an eye out for them.

Beyond Recall are going to be supporting Attack Attack at their Bristol show, from what I can gather the Beyond Recall guys are extremely happy about this. It's going to be such a good experience for them and they'll get to play to share their music to a whole new group of people.
The Natives have released a sneaky peek at some of their new material. It's a really good song called "Big Plan" so I can't wait to hear a bit more from them in the near future.
Out of interest are there any bands that anybody would like to see come together for a tour? What would be your dream touring bands?

UK Chart
This weeks number three is DJ Fresh with Hot Right Now, number two is Emeli Sande with Next to Me and this weeks UK number one is Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye.

Weekly Update

Week Commencing: Monday 13th February 2012
Quick 2 Minutes
So to start it off the news that has to be the highlight of the week is Not Advised announcing their change to Natives. We were all expecting a re-brand by them and now we finally have it. And it looks like we will be hearing some of their new material next week.
Strangle Kojak got through to the next round of Red Bull Bedroom Jam and their Bedroom Jam is being released tomorrow so make sure you check that out because I'm sure that's going to be awesome.

Also A Day Overdue, Show it Off, That Sunday Feeling and Alone Tonight are all doing a co-headlining tour in May so if you are anywhere near Bristol, Newcastle, Nottingham or Glasgow then make sure you go and see them. This is classed as A Day Overdue's warm up tour so hopefully they'll have another tour later on in the year
I honestly can't think what has happened this week.

UK Chart
This weeks number three is Somebody that I used to know by Gotye, second spot is Next to Me by Emeli Sande and this weeks UK number one is Hot Right Now by DJ Fresh.

A Day Overdue

A Day Overdue are an awesome rock/pop-punk band from Glasgow, Scotland. So yes that does mean that they have incredibl Scottish accents. This band is made up of five guys and they have had an amazing career with their music already. The boys even came second in Red Bull Bedroom Jam Festival chart 2011. They have achieved an awful lot having only formed in 2009 and have managed to perform a high number of shows across the whole of the UK. I honestly wish this band all the best and I hope that we head a lot more about them in the near future. Their music careers can only get bigger and better, especially as 2012 seems like it's going to be a big year for them all.
You can:
- facebook them www.facebook.com/ADayOverdueBand
- tweet them www.twitter.com/adayoverdue
- visit their website www.adayoverdue.co.uk
- watch them www.youtube.com/adayoverdue

This is their song Scream.
