Sexy T-Rex Launch

 So I went to this with a friend, I write my blog honestly and I think it was fair to say that everyone was a bit disappointed with the turn out of this event, it had such potential as a launch show and it is a real shame the lack of people there. But that didn't stop the bands performing to a high standard. I had never seen any of these bands live before so it was a first time for me.

It took us a bit of a while to find the venue but then somehow managed to arrive freakishly early so in true style we hide in costa for half an hour before deciding to role up thinking that there would be a few people down there by then. The venue itself was laid out really well, the live music was downstairs in a supposed sound-proofed room. Everyone was praising the venue to start with but I can tell you that didn't last the entire way through the night. I don't blog negatively but lets just say the loss of power during the last band may have turned everyone away from that venue for a little while.

Eastend Promises

This band were first to play, the guys did an amazing job and put energy into their performance. We were also treated to a demo CD from them and some of their songs are sounding really great. I look forward to being able to hear the songs in full.

Kaleidophone

They performed magnificently, personally for me this was the band that I was most looking forward to seeing especially as they are based locally to me. And they didn't disapoint, all the guys looked amazing and performed magnificently. They put their heart into each song and managed to impress. They're new song Sexy T-Rex was brilliant and so much better live, as every song always is. It was great to hear their new songs and get to check out some of their older stuff.
Hollywood Tramps

I would have loved to see so much more from this band because the short 2/3 minutes that we were treated to was phenomial. It was a real shame that we didn't get to see much longer of them. If my memory is correct they didn't even get to finish their first song before we lots power but they definetly caught my attention in that time.

I'm afraid I didn't manage to grab any videos from this gig but never the less please check out all the bands if you get a chance to. Because they treated us to a really great night full of lots of smiles.

Local band Kaleidophone have their release show for their new EP this Wednesday in London and we recommend you drop by if you get a spare evening because it is expected to be a big event and it is all for charity so what could make it better?

Weekly Update

Week Commencing: Monday 9th January 2011

Quick 2 minutes

I'm starting to get crazily excited for all the tours that are taking place this year, I just wish that I had enough money to attend them all because there are some really awesome bands hitting the roads. I'll try to update you on as many as I can but it is easy to forget but I'd say that pretty much any developing band will be touring this year. Talking of tours Room 94's loud noises tour is in March but they are also planning an August tour already as they have asked to take The Survival Code with them. I was more than excited when I found out this news and demanded The Survival Code to do it. So fingers crossed we will be seeing them around more too. I can also inform you that Kaleidophone are going to be releasing some new material soon so make sure you keep an eye out for that.

And I can now officially tell you about the April Stop, Drop, Rock tour. This is the one that I am uber excited about especially because of the line up. It's being organised in a really cool way where the bands alternate each time for who will headline the show. I admit I'm a little upset that Taking Hayley aren't going to be headlining in London but The Famous Class are which will be even better. Also involved is My Extraordinary, The City Calls and then support will be given from Hollywood. The way it works is that all 5 bands will perform at each stop of the tour and then each band will headline their own home town show. It's only a four stop tour so unfortunately it's not that long but hopefully there is one close enough to you that you can go along to. Tickets for Newcastle, Southampton and Birmingham are £6 and then tickets for London are £7, I hate the way London is always more expensive but some things are out of our control due to London being an expensive place.

This section is not going to be two minutes long this time, but I just wanted to give a shout out to FYI and ask little favour, could you all please rate FYI (5 stars would be good) on the Red Bull Bedroom Jam. They are a really great band but because they aren't a stereotypical band for the competition people aren't being very nice. The idea of these competitions is to support and promote not all the negative attitude, it's just shameful for people to act in that way. That is the reason why some music competitions get a bad reputation because of the people that do things like that. It'd be really great if you could just spare a few seconds of your time to vote for them, they've worked really hard and they deserve to do well. Plus they are really lovely people and have been really supportive to me. It's time to give something back, so pretty please drop them a quick (5 star) vote. It'd mean the world to me and I know it would to them too. Thank you very much to all of you that do vote for them, of course its down to you to vote for who you like as a band and I know that I've also voted for a couple of other bands in the competition but that is the great thing about it you can vote for as many different bands.

Kaleidophone

Kaleidophone were a band which was bought to my attention through a short conversation with a friend on a bus. Being me I can't hear a bands name without looking them up and I do and they were pretty good.

I also asked Kaleidophone if they would answer a few questions for me for my EPQ and they lovingly agreed too. It was one of the nicest responses I have had from any of the bands, they replied to all the questions with long and detailed answers and also told me to just ask if I needed any more help from them. They do seem like a lovely bunch of people, it's lovely to know that a band like this are based in a similar area to me.

So, Kaleidophone are a four piece rock band having formed in 2007 the band are still going strong. They were signed in 2009 and since then have grown amazingly as performers. These guys are going to be one of those bands which it kinda helps to like rock music to enjoy them but are pretty likeable whatever the way.
